The aim of the School Literary Festival is to encourage students to read, spark an interest in writing, and allow them to meet and be inspired by some of Australia's leading authors.
Our festivals are held annually at many schools.
As an example of the calibre of our presenters, the edges of this page show previous presenters at past literary festivals. Through our network of authors and through Creative Net speakers agency you will have a choice of many well-known and loved adult and children’s authors and illustrators.
We have held a festival in Central Queensland for the last 5 years.
These festivals are held over 10 days and have involved 5 schools, an open day for groups of students from schools unable to hold a festival, a video link to country schools, a professional development day for teachers, support staff, and librarians, and workshops for local writers. We have now expanded our reach with a festival in Nth Queensland.
HOW THE SCHOOL FESTIVAL WORKS:
Our experienced and well-known authors and illustrators will present workshops to the students in all aspects and genres of writing and illustrating. These workshops can be planned to suit the needs of the students and to fit in with the writing and art assignments in the curriculum and the Naplan test.
Our larger festivals have 10 or 11 presenters, but smaller festivals can be organised with as few as 4. The number of presenters can be adjusted to suit your needs and space restraints.
Other events, like Professional Development Days, Writers' Workshops and an Open Day for small numbers of students from several schools will be organised around your booking.
Individual author visits can also be arranged.
If your school is interested in obtaining more information, discussing holding a festival, or attending one of our events in 2016, please email Elaine at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 0417 351 717 to work out the details.
